CAA provided design services for the fitout of this restaurant which offers a traditional Brazilian barbecue experience where skewered meat cuts are grilled and then taken to patrons and carved straight onto their plates. A large viewing window to the kitchen allows customers to view into the cooking area to see the theatre of the barbecue and also offers the benefit of an outlook to the kitchen staff.
Lapa is a neighbourhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is home to the Arcos da Lapa which is an impressive mid-18th century aqueduct that is constructed of a series of arches. This arch form is reflected in the kitchen viewing window of this Lapa restaurant and a variety of materials and seating arrangements are incorporated into the design. The plan form of the bar seating area also alludes to the blade of a knife that is a key prop in the chef’s carving the skewered meats in the restaurant.
